Turning on the ignition of a car


What happens when you turn the key on the car ignition? We got ignition. When we first get the car we first insert the key for the ignition circuit to start the engine. The electric circuit between battery and starter motor is closed and the starter motor transforms electrical energy into mechanical energy. It is coupled to the flywheel transmitting the motion to the crankshaft. The starter motor disconnects.



A 4-stroke engine convert explosions into motion and provide motion and transfers into wheel. The cylinder is the space where the piston travels. The back and forth linear motion of the pistons transforms into circular motion by powering the wheels. 

4 strokes:

1. Intake: valve must be open while the piston pulls air fuel distance. Air fuel ratio is 14.7:1 and the oxygen provides combustion to fuel.

2. In compression, intake and exhaust value of closed and the piston goes up and causes the compression of fuel air mixture where pressure rises drastically after particle collision increasing the temperature. 

3. In combustion and expansion, the spark plug fires igniting the compressed fuel causing an explosion driving the piston downward, converting energy of explosion into rotary motion. 

4. The final stroke, called exhaust, is when the piston returns to the top while the exhaust valve is open.

This speed goes to 60x per second around 240 explosions per second in the combustion cycle.
