How to be an elite JavaScript Developer

There are 7 steps to become an elite JavaScript Developer. 

The number one value is fun. If something is fun, I will overcome any obstacle that gets in my way. 

The number 2 value is hard work. This is going to be a lot of hard work, so it's going to be very miserable if you don't enjoy it. Sometimes it's terrifying because you don't know where to begin. Coding is a hard thing. You need to be mentally prepared for the grind. 

The number 3 value is patience. We think in terms of years, not weeks and not months. You can become really really really good in years, not months, not weeks. 

The number 4 value is team cooperation, whether it's freelancer contractor and full time. Nobody wants to work with someone who they don't like. So we have to communicate everything that we're doing to the team. Don't hid your code. Be very open.

Be kind and help others. If someone asks for help, provide them help, and don't be afraid to ask others for help as well. Always give credit where credit is due. You want to recognize them for help. Say "I had an issue and Lavanya helped me out and finished this task" and this is meaningful to the other person. 

Then be open to new ideas, you have the ability to create anything you want.  Then only provide constructive criticism, provide something that a person can actually use and improve on. If something doesn't look good, say "Hey, maybe you can improve by changing some of the colors." People who criticized got fired within a few weeks.

The next skill is communication. Some advice is saying when someone asks "How do you communicate", I say that "I work at a push vs pull basis". This means I push information towards you and letting other know the status of things instead of trying to pull information. You want to have a relationship that you provide for your client. It's an extremely valuable skill in the Freelancer role, and this can get raises from companies.

Now the next skill is always be learning.You can be in different themes, don't be afraid to go outside of the comfort zone.Skills can contribute to something much bigger useful for a company or a freelancing gig. Try to find better way to improve the process, the architecture, and performance, and be a person who tries to improve the product, and that increases your value.

The last one is to take initiative, don't be a person that takes orders. This will get you fired. Be someone who provides and introduces ideas. The number one thing that you're most proud of and say "I communicate very well and a very research-based person", when I have a task in hand, ask "What's the problem, is the solution solving the problem, and is there a potentially better way?". This increases your value in a company as someone has the expertise to take initiative.
